To the Single Moms from a Single Mom’s Child

Mother’s Day just happened, and we all love our moms, right?! Even if we had a Dad instead of a mom, we love you too! But this blog is for the single moms out there who need some extra love.

Let’s face it, most of you probably feel or have felt alone on this journey. No matter what got you into this status of being a Single Mom, you are all equal. Even if you are no longer a single parent (like my Mom), you know all too well how if feels. This is an open letter to all of you from someone who lived this & turned out just fine. Let me show you what we–your kids–see.

As I become an adult, I meet more and more people who are single moms. Most of them have that common worry of not being enough for their child. But they are wrong….

You ARE enough, and you’re not alone.

Here’s a little story. In my family, my “grandfather” left my Nana when my Mom & her siblings were teenagers. It was rough for all of them. Years later, my Mom was pregnant with me and long story short, my “dad” didn’t want to be in my life. What happened when Mom had me surprises me every time I hear it, because I had no idea until a couple years ago….

Apparently, my family wasn’t in the best place– as you could guess with a father recently running out on them along with any other drama. I mean, what family doesn’t have drama?? The siblings were fighting & my Nana was not only depressed, but trying to keep the family together. When I was born, the fighting stopped…. That’s what babies can do. They are miracles all on their own! From there, my life started.

The best thing my Mom & Nana could’ve done for me was have the family’s help. And I mean the ENTIRE family! My Great Grandma (whom I just call Grandma) & Grandpa watched me a lot when Mom & Nana had to work. My Mom’s siblings (and some significant others) lived with us in the very beginning. It was like Full House but with 1 kid: me! My Aunts & Uncle watched me a lot too, including my Great Aunt (Nana’s sister). It was a family effort to raise me for a long time. Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I was the only child in my immediate family until I was 12. I had a few cousins (5 to be exact), who I saw every once in a while, until my other cousins & sister were born after age 12.

And we did all this without my “dad”. I put parentheses around it because he’s not my dad, he’s the sperm that helped make me. Sorry Mom, but it’s true! People have always asked me about “my dad” since I was little. When I’d simply say “I don’t have one”, EVERY response was like this: “Oh I’m so sorry. What happened to him?” or “Oh, why not?” Gee, I was 8 when these were asked, do I look like I would know? Oh, and these questions were from parents of my friends. My friends would just say “Oh” and move on, as kids often do. There’s not much else to talk about is there? Apparently to adults, there was. Good job random adults of my childhood, you’ve now made it into the story… lol.

When I turned 13, my Mom told me about “my dad”. Then she told me I could go find him & meet him if I wanted. Now, most people think my response would’ve been YES. But it wasn’t. I simply said, “Why? If he didn’t stay, than I don’t wanna meet him.” I think Mom took it pretty harsh, but she had a Dad most of her life. I didn’t have this gaping, upsetting hole in my heart because he wasn’t there to fill it. Instead, my heart was full from all the love I had in every direction. Not only did I see my whole family a lot, I had my Nana to replace that void for my entire growing up life. I got to have another Mom instead! Mother’s Day in my family has always been a big deal. And I personally have never once celebrated a Father’s Day. Don’t get me wrong, I will when I have my own kids, & my little sister celebrates it with my step-Dad, but I will never forget where I came from.

Ever.

As some of my Aunts have put it, I was the child of the family at that time. So this is where I get to the single moms out there now. You aren’t alone. Find those family members or close friends who can be there for not just you, but your child. Yes, it’s true that we all need somebody to lean on. So why not lean on someone who already loves you, no matter what?? And if you want to do it alone, more power to you honey! That’s even cooler because you can claim both roles! Haha

I don’t know if Mom even did this, but it seemed like there was just no question about dad. This was just how it was. I didn’t know better and the family kept it that way. I know many LGBT couples probably do the same with their kids: this is our life, and it’s perfect the way it is, no matter how different. We have our kids & that’s all that matters. It doesn’t matter if the father is a deadbeat, or even if he passed away. OR even if there is no Mom (for the Dad’s who are reading this). The kids don’t know the difference unless they are told. Yes, it’s difficult and not what you planned, but your child doesn’t know that. All they know is you, their family & how much they are loved. Even if Dad is a little involved, play it like it’s normal for the rest of the World! I can’t speak for divorces, but maybe try the same kind of positive thinking, and things will be better. Keep the love involved, and there won’t be problems with you & your child’s relationship– at least until they are teenagers. You will have a very close relationship, which is great!

I know a lot of you have experienced this question or are afraid of it coming from your child: “who is my dad?” You can choose how to answer that, even if it’s a lie! I don’t remember asking this question. I remember asking Mom about her Dad, but that’s it. Remember how in school the whole class makes a Father’s Day gift for their Dads? THAT was what I got confused on. I remember sitting in my 1st grade class with a blank Father’s Day card, thinking to myself “Who the heck do I give this to?” My teacher asked me what was wrong & I said “Nothing, I just don’t have a Dad…” She went “Ok, well is there someone else you love besides Mom? We can save her for Mother’s Day..” The teacher left me to my thoughts. That year, I gave it to Nana. I crossed out the Father & replaced it with Nana. This made the front of the card say “Happy Nana’s Day!” Btw, I think that should be a thing. Anyways, she loved it! I made one for Grandpa one year, but most of the time they went to Nana.

So, when you cross this bridge with your own child, they may come up with a solution all their own like I did. If not, you decide what you want them to know while they are young. It is ultimately protecting them from some drama they can’t understand yet. You can tell them when they’re older, or just not mention it. After I turned 13, I knew the story, and that was it. I didn’t need the option, or want to know more. Mom told me he has other kids. Didn’t need to know that, or them! How messed up would it be for his wife if I showed up & ruined everything she knew about him? Ruined his kid’s lives because I was being selfish & making myself feel better? I don’t need it. The less drama the better! Do you want your child to do this? Sure, you may hate the guy, but what about the wife or other kids? If you do it right, nothing bad will happen on all sides. TRUST ME!

It’s true, as Mom, you are our everything and more. Coming from someone on the other side, it’ll be ok! We just want you. You are always enough.

Don’t ever doubt it.

As an adult now, my only stumbling point on this “no dad” thing will be my future wedding. But I have lots of choices for people to give me away. I have my Uncles, Aunts & even Mom to choose from! I will probably have Mom do it if she wants to. If my great grandparents are still around, one of them could even do it. I’ve seen that before! This is for me to figure out, and is not anyone’s fault. It is part of my life. My special day will just be THAT much more special than a normal wedding. And there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m already pretty unique, as each one of us is!

So to all you single moms, new or older, we’re fine and we will be. We–your kids–just need your love, and maybe a little extra from you or anyone else. Don’t ever put blame on yourself please, that’s the last thing we want.

You can do this…..

Love you Mom,

Love your daughter/son/children.

Happy Mother’s Day everyone!

How to Tea-Dye a T-Shirt

Let’s make a Tea-shirt… get it?! Haha I’ve been using that joke all week.

I started figuring this out because I am a dance teacher who occasionally likes to make costumes. I’ve done a few & they’ve been great! Like Star Wars Padawan Jedi…

OR This year’s theme: Pirates of the Caribbean!

Can you tell I like Disney stuff?? Lol There are videos of both of these dances on YouTube. Just search Pirates Dance or Star Wars Dance! They are pretty fun.

Anyways…. I wanted a nice tan colored shirt. Did you know that’s hard to find?! Yes, very difficult. So, I looked up ways to make a white shirt that color. I could just buy brown dye, but I was worried it would be too dark. Then I found a cheaper way, with tea bags!! Just buy some black tea–a whole bunch of it– and you can dye it. Sounds simple, right?!

Things you’ll need:

  • Lots of water- hot & cold
  • A T-shirt (preferably white for the best look)
  • Black tea bags (more than 10 if doing more than one shirt.
  • A bucket of a big bowl(if doing only 1 shirt)

Step 1: Fill your bucket

First, you need to fill your bucket (or bowl) with hot water, and tons of it! If your doing one shirt, fill up 1/3 of the bucket OR your entire bowl. If your doing more than one, fill it up with over half. I just used hot water from the sink- our sink water gets boiling hot. Another recipe I found said to boil the water, but why not eliminate that step entirely if you can?! You can also use a tea maker to boil water, it just may take longer to fill up the bucket.

Step 2: Make some Tea!

It’s time to name tea to use as dye. If you want the shirt to be darker, out more tea bags in! I did 5 bags for one shirt and got this look:

If you’re doing more than one at a time–like I was– double the amount of tea bags! For example:

  • 1 shirt= 5 tea bags
  • 2 shirts = 10 tea bags
  • 3 shirts = 15 tea bags….

Got it? I did 20 tea bags for 4 shirts, multiple times. See how much I had to fill my bucket?

Once you’ve put in your tea bags, let it steep for at least 10 minutes depending on how many you put in.

*Tip: if you cover your bowl or bucket, the tea bags will steep faster! Plus you don’t lose so much hot water.

Presto! You’re ready fir the next step!

Step 3: Add the shirt(s)

Time to soak! The shirt will need to soak for close to 2 hours. 1 shirt for me took barely an hour and a half for the color I wanted. More than one shirt took 2 hours or more.

Now, you will want to check the shirt half way through to make sure all of it is being dyed. For me, I stirred my many shirts to make sure they all got the right amount of dye. Why worry? Well, shirts float! Sometimes a piece will bubble up and stay at the surface. It may create a cool look for sure! But you don’t need it…

Step 4: Drain & Rinse

Drain your bowl/bucket into the sink. Take out each shirt & squeeze all the extra fluid out. You will see tea come out which is ok! It’s sat in it long enough that it shouldn’t fade too much.

Next, fill your bowl or bucket up with cold water; this will set the color on the shirts! Fill the water a little less then when you filled it with hot. Put the shirt(s) in the cold water and let them sit! They need to sit for at least an hour. It’s basically half the time they dyed in the tea.

Step 5: Hang Dry

Squeeze out the water, and hang ’em up! It’s best to do this in a laundry room or bathroom where you don’t care what happens to the floor. Tea will drop out! I put a dark towel down so it didn’t stain the bathroom floor.

And that’s it! Once it’s dry, this shirt is ready to wear! Have fun!!

Thanks for reading!

Prince Phillip vs. Prince Phillip?

Ok, ok, I know you’re probably confused. So let me explain…

Lately, Disney is having fun doing live-action remakes of their classic animated films. They just did Beauty & the Beast, and it was awesome!! Yes, there are a few things I’m sure some people didn’t like, and things we did. Like, I’m happy they cleared up some confusion on things, like the weather! Thank you Disney!!

Anyways, back to this. With more live-actions coming up, I figured it’s time to look back at one of their first ones: Maleficent.

I realize that it is through her point of view, instead of the fairies & Aurora’s like the original animated film Sleeping Beauty. But still, you know we were ALL comparing them. I know that Aurora was great & so was Maleficent. Most of the characters weren’t bad. I didn’t like the fairies, they were too ditsy. However, it is how Maleficent viewed them, and that’s how we see them. But my BIGGEST flaw I found, was in a very main character in the original…

Prince Phillip.

Prince freaking Phillip: the definition of smooth. In Sleeping Beauty, Prince Phillip was hot! And he went after what he wanted, fast! Plus, he was a smooth talker. He stole Aurora’s heart in 1 minute! And he could sing! So suave, I’m jealous. He even tried to smooth talk his father, and it worked!

So, let’s compare! The original Prince wore a beautiful get-up: Red cape, sleek grey & black outfit, with boots & THE BEST horse-Samson! And Samson is white with a black mane… remember that….

Great, right?!

Now, let’s get to the live-version Phillip: All white horse, with a blue dress kind of outfit, brown cape, and puffy white sleeves… the only thing the same is the hair color… and the boots. Yes, he’s cute & younger to match Aurora. I get the appeal, but he’s not so hot you wanna run away with him. He doesn’t sing, he doesn’t even know if he loves her in this one! Wtf?!

And wait a minute, didn’t the fairies give him the sword?? Again, I get it, there was no “true love” in Maleficent. That’s fine. But the dress thing? Why?? Let me show you this….

Remember Prince Charming from Snow White? Well let’s take a look…

Oh yeah, this guy. Now, look at his outfit….. Look familiar?

WOW! The only difference is the hat because there isn’t one! LOL. So, they made Prince Phillip more poofy like Prince Charming. It’s hilarious! Honestly, where’s the spark? The beautiful dance in the forest or better yet, the dragon fight?!

Well, I guess that’s ok, we didn’t want her dead in the live-action anyways. But it still would’ve showed off Phillip’s talents. It’s pretty crazy how different something can be. But it’s funny how similar he looked like Prince Charming.

I have to applaud Disney for getting the Beast right on their new Beauty & the Beast. I just hope they keep it up in their new films to come. It’s ok if they don’t all sing, but make them look closer to the original please! See, they did great with the Beast:

EVEN when he turned human…. HOTTIE!!!

So keep it up Disney we love it! We all want to find out prince, and making these are great for us Disney fans & hopeless romantics…

The End!

Thanks for reading! All the photos were from Google. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ˜ I loved writing this one.

JustFab & WHY You Should Try It!

JustFab.com… have you tried it yet? I think you should. I have….
And I LOVE IT!

I was happily surprised that I enjoy it so much after signing up in November. I sighed up because the hit tv show, Project Runway was sponsored by JustFab. Not only were they sponsored, BUT they also had a challenge where the winner’s item would be sold on the website! Of course, the winner was Laurence Basse with this KILLER jumpsuit…

I HAD to have it. So, I took a leap & signed up for my first members-only shopping site. I had to wait a month to get the jumpsuit, naturally it was sold out. When I got it, I loved it! Take a look….

Now. I’m short & obviously not a model size, but I think I look dang good! And of course it is slightly different than what was on the show, which is ok. I’m so happy with this purchase, not to mention the others I’ve done. So let me talk about the site some more.

JustFab.com is a members-only shopping site. Yes, you have to sign up to use it. The details:

  • You have to know if you’re going to shop on the site by the 5th of every month. AND if you decide not to shop that month, you have to skip the month. Yes, you can skip & still shop later. That’s what I do so that I have more time. Plus, I sometimes get paid after the 5th, and ya need money to shop right?! Lol.
  • Shipping is free for any purchase over $39.95! Pretty awesome!
  • You get points for every dollar you spend, AND for every review you write.
  • You can cancel anytime! I haven’t yet, and idk if I will.

You get styled based on what items you pick. I am a girl next door, which I figured. Lol They suggest outfits, shoes & you can of course pick what you like OR order just from the site & not your boutique. I’ve done both.

Like I said, you can shop whatever you want! You just have to sign up of course. I know it can be a pain, but it’s not as bad as you think…

Yup, it’s true, they’ve been running for 7 years! Congrats JustFab!

Another thing, once you become a certain level in your membership, you can join their program PS. PS is a Personal Shopping assistant that creates a box for you to try things on at home! Then, you can decide to buy them, return them or whatever! Read below…

Pretty cool! I tried it and it was better than I expected. I didn’t keep everything, but it was fun to check out! I think it’s the smartest idea, honestly. So many people hate trying on clothes. So wouldn’t you rather try it at home? Yeah, genius!

So, Happy Birthday JustFab! Everyone should try it, I mean why not? The clothes are made with very good quality & are easy to exchange, return or better yet, KEEP!

So try it if you haven’t, I think you’ll like it. Just be careful & don’t lose all your money! Lol

Grumpy: The Funniest of the 7 DwarfsΒ

We’ve all watched Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs and we know all the dwarfs’ names by heart. Dopey, Happy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Doc, Bashful & Sleepy. All of them were funny in their own way. But I know what you’re thinking…….

Grumpy isn’t the funny one, Dopey is! That’s partly true, yes. However, I have a different view; one that I got as an adult–not a child.

As children watching this Disney classic, we were meant to laugh at Dopey. Dopey was the comic relief for the kids! Everything he does is funny, even though he doesn’t talk. And I’m pretty sure Walt Disney meant for it to be this way. It’s true, ALL seven dwarfs are funny, but the top two are Grumpy & Dopey–with Doc right behind them at #3.

Dopey does crazy funny stuff. The funniest is probably when he eats the soap! Honestly though, as an adult, all I can think of is his gross that would be in real life. Right?! There are plenty of other things Dopey does that are pretty funny too. I’m sure you remember them like I do.

Grumpy is funnier in his lines & attitude. He says all the funny lines that mainly adults get. However, he can come across as mean to children. Again, that’s on purpose, hence the name Grumpy. You can tell he’s the guy who doesn’t like change & is very superstitious. For example, he’s pretty sure the Evil Queen is full of “black magic” and will “swoop down and reak her vengeance on us!” in his own words. And he’s totally right most of the time! My favorite part is when everyone else is washing up & Grumpy thinks it’s nuts….  “A fine bunch of water lillies you turned out to be.” I’m laughing out loud every time he says it!

Another one who’s funny for adults is #3: Doc. Doc sputters his speech all thru the film but is obviously the smartest of the group. There are plenty of times that it is hysterical what he actually says vs what he’s trying to say. For example, when Doc is trying to find out who Snow White is, he first says “What are you and who are you doin?” Come on guys…. that’s a hidden dirty joke in there! Doc is trying to say “Who are you and what are you doin here?” And it didn’t come out that way. He’s another funny one where you have to hear/understand his lines.

Lastly, there is one more slightly funny thing that doesn’t involve a dwarf. After the Evil Queen has changed into an old lady, and after creating her poison apple, she checks the spell book. She checks to make sure there’s no cure for the sleeping death. But there is… love’s first kiss. Her response? “Love’s first kiss! (Slams book shut) She’ll be buried alive!” And she laughs hysterically at the idea of the cure actually happening. To be honest, it’s kinda funny that she doesn’t believe it could even happen. Didn’t she see the prince? There’s always a chance when it’s true love!

Let’s try a little experiment….

1) Close your eyes & think way back to watching Snow White as a kid. Now, think of all the times you laughed SO hard at Dopey. What was he doing that was so funny? Write it down.

2) Now, think about all the times you thought Grumpy was mean when you watched this film as a kid: Why was he mean in your opinion? When was it in the story? Write it down.

3) Finally, watch the movie as an adult. If you can, do it by yourself. As you watch, see which parts make you laugh now. See which parts aren’t as funny as you remember them. And, see if anything makes you cry (bonus*which dwarf makes you cry when they cry about Snow White’s death?) Also, see if a totally different character makes you laugh!

*Here are my results/thoughts in terms of the questions above: (I added pictures just did fun)

1) I used to laugh really hard at Dopey eating the soap or when Sneezy sneezed. Sneezy was another funny one that I forgot! I also laughed when the turtle falls down the stairs. Otherwise, this film was never my favorite… but now I like it way more!

2) Grumpy was mean when he wanted to send a Snow White away. Also, why didn’t he want to wash? She just wanted him to be clean.

3) Dopey isn’t as funny, but still had some funny parts. Sneezy is only funny to me the first time he sneezes so bad that everyone flys away. The turtle falling is still funny! Snow White is funny when she figures out which one Grumpy is.

Omg Doc, that was a dirty joke.. haha!

After Grumpy runs into the door, Snow White goes, “Aw did you hurt yourself??” GOOD BURN Snow White! Hahaha

OMG Grumpy is so funny! Am I just like him?? My new favorite line sequence is: Grumpy: “They’re full of wicked wiles.” Bashful: “What are wicked wiles?” Grumpy: “I don’t know, but imma get ’em!” Lol

Oh lord, let’s just say this: “Bbbb bbbb bbbb!” I love that washing scene.

That silly song is funnier than you think….

Grumpy DOES like her…. Oh no, he’s sad that she’s dead. OK I, CRYING NOW! Thanks Grumpy..

Yay! She’s alive! Grumpy must be so happy. Well, they all are. A Happy Ending!

*– That was it! I would love to hear your results & answers too! Please comment & we can compare.*

So you see why I think Grumpy is the funniest? Plus, my family agrees. Go Grumpy!

Thanks for reading! This one was fun, also it gave me a chance to review some characters I never thought of before. Enjoy!
Pictures all came from Google or screen shots of my own.

Disney Animals List: Birds

“Birds of a feather should flock together.”

It’s another Disney animated animals list! This time, we are looking at all the birds. Birds: their small and sometimes not seen, but heard. Disney has always done a great job with birds, their characters, sounds & actions!

There are a few movies I never saw in the early 2000s (I know, it’s crazy) so if there’s animals from them I missed, please comment & tell me! I will not be offended. But on all the other classics and such, I know what I’m doing. πŸ˜‰ So here we go!

1) Baby Blue Bird- Snow White (1937). Just before the Huntsman decided not to kill Snow, she was holding a baby blue bird who was lost. He was THE FIRST Disney animated bird on a film! He & his parents also showed up in the rest of the movie. There were other birds in the forest too, but these 3 stood out.

2)Crow & Vultures- Snow White (1937). These are the evil birds in the film. The crow watches the evil queen make her potion & poison apple. He’s kinda funny. The vultures linger in the woods, watching the queen. In the end, they lead you to believe that the vultures went down to pick at the queens crushed body…. Ew!

3) Blue Fairy’s Dove- Pinocchio (1940). In Pinocchio, a magical dove brings a note from the Blue Fairy. The note tells Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket that Gapetto has been swallowed by Monstro, the whale! So yeah, the dove doesn’t do much… But it was there!

4) Doves with Girl Minotaurs- Fantasia (1940). What is it with doves?? Anyways… These doves sit on a girl Minotaur’s hair as a chic hairstyle. It’s funny!

5) Ostrich Ballerinas- Fantasia (1940). These are my favorite!! I love the music, I love their dancing. So cute! Not to mention, this became iconic.

6) Crows in a Tree- Dumbo (1941). These crows aren’t until the end of the film. However, they are very funny. I love their song too! And they fit the era of this movie very well. It’s cool how Disney does that.

7) Birds in Forest- Bambi (1942). Now, there are tons of birds in this film. So I’ll break them down by species and keep them in one group…. Oh! And all of them are also in the rain scene.

Friend Owl: The owl knows everyone & seems to know everything. I love when he talks about being twitterpated! Speaking of that…..

Lovebirds of the forest: There they all are! The twitterpated birds which drive the owl nuts.

Mama Quail & Babies: These guys are so cute! We see them throughout the film, and it’s adorable.

Pheasants: Here’s the group of pheasants. We see a few of these on the rain scene. We mainly meet them in the scene where man has come to the forest. In the photo above is THIS dummy. This ONE pheasant got too anxious and had to fly away. The rest told her to stay put and what happened? She got shot. Yes, this was one of Disney’s cruelest moments, second to Bambi’s mother dying.

And that’s all the birds basically from Bambi!

8) The Three Caballeros (1944). This mini film consist of 3 birds! What? No way! Lol We have the parrot, the red bird, & Donald Duck himself!

9) Mr. Bluebird on My Shoulder- Song of the South (1946). We all know the song… Zip a Dee do dah! There really is a bluebird on his shoulder!

10) Hummingbirds- Song of the South (1946). I really love the fact that these Hummingbirds hum.. haha, good one Disney!

11) Birds- Cinderella (1950). These birds are Cinderella’s friends. They also seem to be her alarm clock. There are blue birds….

And brown birds…..

And this one red bird who’s cute but too loud with his singing.

Overall, they are sweet & help Cinderella all the time. Plus, we see them again in BOTH of Cinderella’s other movies. There were also chickens in the beginning of this movie as well.

12)Normal birds- Alice In Wonderland (1951). There are TONS of birds in this movie. So we will start with the normal birds, then the abnormal ones. When Alice is dreaming up wonderland, there’s a bluebird who sings back to her. This guy!

There are also some bigger, normal birds in wonderland…

For example, the parrots, pelican & tucan(?) that run around the Dodo bird.

And I guess we could count Mr. Dodo as normal. Even though he is a little wacky haha.

Another “normal looking” bird in Alice In Wonderland, is this bird below. She’s the one who has a nest & thinks Alice is some kind of serpent. Also, she & Dodo are wearing some type of clothes while no other birds do… very curious.

The last normal birds we see are during the game of croquet; the flamingos! They may be used in a weird way, but what isn’t weird about this movie?!

13) Abnormal Birds of Wonderland- Alice In Wonderland (1951). This group is going to get confusing. Please note, most of these birds idk they’re names so I’m kinda making one up. Here we go….

Just before Alice gets lost, we see all these birds in this area. First, we see this organ-owl who is pretty funny.

Next we see the birdcage; a bird that’s also a cage-for birds- get it?! Haha I crack myself up.

Another bird we see is this mirror bird with a friend who is a pair of glasses. When the glasses appear in the mirror, Alice disappears & thus gives the mirror bird eyes! Trippy!

We also see these taller, Shovel birds. They seem more like cranes possibly…

Next, we see the Hammet & Pencil birds making a sign.

As Alice follows a path that’s been erased, she runs into the next birds who aren’t so kind to her…

She see’s these Umbrella Vultures. I say vultures because that’s what they looked folded up. When these guys fly into a tree, they glare at her like vultures as well.

Lastly, she see’s this Horn Duck family. The mother is quite rude to Alice.

When Alice is sad that she’s lost, all the abnormal birds come back to her and get sad like her. You can say they are part of her imagination & are tied to her feelings.

14) Swans- Peter Pan (1953). Yes, there are swans when they leave London in the beginning. Tinkerbell flies by a few AND this happens….

PETER WTF are you doing?! Those poor swans, at least we know he’s light…..

15) Bird that gets shaved- Peter Pan (1953). I love this scene. It’s always cracked me up. Smee thinks this bird’s butt is Hook’s face… he really isn’t paying attention is he?! Like, how did he forget to unwrap Hook from the towel he wrapped around it?!

16) Black birds- Lady & the Tramp (1955). These birds are in Lady’s yard, and she quickly chases them away. There is a whole group of them that fly. It seems to be a routine for her.

17) Doves- Lady & the Tramp (1955). All I can say is, “Hi gals, how’s pickin’s?”- Tramp to these birds….

18) Birds in window & parrot- Lady & the Tramp (1955). Here are more birds in this film, there aren’t many. First, there are the birds in the window once the baby is born.

Next, there is a parrot in the pet shop when Lady gets a muzzle. There are also some other birds that she accidentally lets out when running away.

19) Birds in Belle Note- Lady & the Tramp (1955). We see lots of birds during Lady & Tramp’s love night…. or should I say love birds? Haha

There are two owls side by side in a tree. Then there are two swans swimming in the lake. So much love!!

20) Chasing Chickens- Lady & the Tramp (1955). Ever chase chickens? I should say not! And these two probably shouldn’t have, but these are the last birds we see in this film.

21) Birds in forest- Sleeping Beauty (1959). Honestly, I love these birds. These birds are all friends of “Briar Rose” or Aurora as we know her. There is a whole group of them!

22) Owl- Sleeping Beauty (1959). The owl is pretty cute. He and some of the birds try to cheer Briar Rose up by being her “dream prince”. Pretty smart!

23) Maleficent’s Raven- Sleeping Beauty (1959). Maleficent’s raven is the one who finds Aurora’s location. He is a well trained pet to be honest.

24) Archimedes the owl- Sword In the Stone (1963). Archimedes is a highly educated owl– meaning he talks! He’s pretty funny in this film, as well as grumpy! Haha

If you think about it, the wart or Arthur becomes a bird in this film too, but we won’t really count him.

25) Evil Hawk & bird in nest- Sword In the Stone (1963). This bird is pure evil! The hawk we see twice, and he just looks so intense! Look at him!

We also see a scrawny bird in a nest when Merlin & Arthur are squirrels for a day. This bird gets PISSED OFF at Arthur for running into him. Those squirrelly squirrels!!

26) Band of Vultures- The Jungle Book (1967). If you notice in this film, Walt wanted some great singers in it. He had some famous voices in there, and these birds were supposed to be The Beatles! These guys are fun for a group of Vultures. And the only birds we see.

27) Abigail & Amelia Gabble, the Geese- The Aristocats (1970). These sisters are amazing. I love how they try to teach Mr. O’Malley to swim when cats don’t swim. Hahaha

28) Uncle Waldo- The Aristocats (1970). MY personal favorite!  Especially when he’s marinated. This British goose is quite a drunk. So here’s this meme I found of his best part…. SHERRY!! Loling on the floor, every time.

29) Lady Cluck- Robin Hood (1973). Clucky is pretty funny. She’s always ready to take on someone too!

30) Trigger & Nutsy- Robin Hood (1973). Trigger & Nutsy are the guards of the jail & they do whatever the sheriff tells them.

31) Bluebird- The Rescuers (1977). Yes, there is another bluebird! But this one isn’t in it for long.

32) Orville the Albatross- The Rescuers (1977). Orville is a big bird who flies mice to their destination. It seems in the end of the film that he became Bianca & Bernard’s personal pilot.

33) Owl- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977). We can’t forget our friend Owl! And yes, Owl has been in all the other Pooh movies, especially the recent one, done in 2011.

34) Big Mama- Fox & The Hound (1981). What is with all the owls?! Anyways, big mama helps save Todd when he’s a baby. But she didn’t do it alone….

35) Dinky & Boomer- Fox & The Hound (1981). These two are the comic relief of this film. They chase a caterpillar throughout the entire film too! I believe Dinky is the little bird, & Boomer is the woodpecker.

36) Forrest birds- Fox & the Hound (1981). Of course, we see birds flying in this film as well as dead birds in the neighbors shed.

37) Scuttle- The Little Mermaid (1989). Scuttle! He’s a pretty funny seagull who really doesn’t know much. He also returns in the little mermaid 2!

38) Birds singing- The Little Mermaid (1989). During the song Kiss the Girl, it seems like all kinds of animals are singing. There were 2 birds singing in that blue lagoon…..

Yes, there were ducks & flamingos! And Scuttle was the only bird who couldn’t sing. lol

39) Marahoote- The Rescuers Down Under (1990). Marahoote (I think that’s how it’s spelled), was the biggest bird in Australia. Toby, a little boy who I think was based off of Steve Irwin, saves her from a poachers trap. Throughout the story, Toby tries to save this magnificent, giant eagle & her eggs.

40) Wilbur- The Rescuers Down Under (1990). Wilbur is an albatross & is Orville’s little brother. It seems Orville isn’t available & Wilbur gets to take Bernard & Bianca to Australia. He’s also voiced by John Candy who was very funny.

41) Flying Flamingos- The Rescuers Down Under (1990). Wilbur loses track of the mice, so as he’s flying he runs into theee flamingos. But they’re flying! I don’t think flamingos fly, do they?!

42) Scrooge & Cast- DuckTales The Movie (1990). Are you singing the song yet? I AM!! So, Scrooge obviously isn’t new to the Disney world. But Disney channel made THE BEST tv show with him, & Huey, Duey & Louie! Donald Duck made an appearance every now & then. There were also new main birds in this show/movie including: the boys’ little sister Webby, the maid Mrs. Beakly, & Scrooge’s private pilot (my fav) Launch Pad. The movie was just as great to watch! And the movie had a duck genie

43)Belle’s Chickens- Beauty & the Beast(1991). Yes, Belle has chickens. We see them right before she sings THE best song on a hilltop.

44) Birds in snow- Beauty & the Beast(1991). These are the birds that Belle feeds at the castle. They also sit in the beast’s hands as well.

45) Iago- Aladdin(1992). Iago is Jafar’s sidekick. He’s pretty funny. I do like how in the later movies & tv shows he was on Aladdin’s side.

46) Doves & other birds- Aladdin (1992). There were other birds in this film too! Jasmine has pet doves that she sets free. There are also flamingos in the palace. There are birds in the sky when Jasmine & Aladdin are flying on the magic carpet. And lastly, there are peacocks in Aladdin’s parade made by the genie.

47) Zazu- The Lion King (1994). Zazu is Mufasa’s advisor basically. He is a big part of Pride Rock until Mufasa dies. With Scar, he just entertains him to avoid being eaten. And he was also in the second movie AND he’s in the new tv show, The Lion Guard.

48) Flit- Pocahontas (1995). Flit is the stubborn hummingbird that watches over Pocahontas. He is pretty good & cute.

49). Eagles- Pocahontas (1995). The eagles are when Pocahontas is singing “Colors of the Wind”. There’s only 2 of them.

50) Baby Bird in Nest- The Hunchback of Norte Dame (1996). This bird is so cute; this bird is scared to fly until Quasimodo convinces it that it’s ok to fly. “Nobody wants to be cooped up here forever.”

51) Doves- The Hunchback of Norte Dame (1996). These doves (I think) follow one of the gargoyles around all the time. It drives her crazy!

52) Pain & Panic as Birds- Hercules (1997). We see these two as birds when Meg is supposed to find Hercules’ weakness. These are the only “birds” in the film.

53) Shan- Yu’s Falcon- Mulan (1998). This falcon sees everything & tells Shan-Yu. It’s kinda creepy! But then Mushu fries it’s feathers off and it’s hilarious.

54) THE Bird- A Bug’s Life (1998). This was the first bird done by Pixar! And it’s not just this bird who tries to eat everyone, there’s the fake bird the ants made, AND the real bird’s chicks which we see at the end, eating Hopper.

55) Big Bird- Tarzan (1999). I have no idea what this bird is called, but Tarzan & Turk try to rope it as kids but are unsuccessful….

56) Parrots in Jungle- Tarzan (1999). These are the birds that Jane tries to draw. Then, Tarzan takes her into the trees where they all live to see tons of them. Btw, this scene is beautiful.

57) Donald Duck & Daisy- Fantasia 2000(1999). Yes, we get to see Donald & Daisy in this one! They are part of the Noah’s arc scene…

58) Other birds- Fantasia 2000(1999). Here are all the other birds in this masterpiece film…. There’s the Famingo with a Yoyo:

Birds in the sky while those whales fly:

And lastly, the evil Fire bird:

59) Tip the Penguin- The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea(2000). Tip is a penguin who hangs out with a walrus. Melody- Ariel’s daughter- meets these two after turning into a mermaid.

60) Singing Hummingbirds- The Tigger Movie (2000). These Hummingbirds help Tigger sing his sad song about being lonely. Yes, they hum, and it’s a sneaky reference to the ones in Songs of the South. Nice one Disney!

61) Ted- Monsters Inc. (2001). Ted is a big bird monster. We only see his feet BUT he caws like a rooster, so do the math. Lol

62) The Ugly Duckling – Lilo & Stitch (2002). Stitch reads the story about The Ugly Duckling one night. Later, he sees a family of ducks & no ugly duckling.

63) Flock of birds- Brother Bear (2003). When Kenai turns into a bear, he hears these birds talking as they fly above him. I believe the same birds are at the salmon run as well.

64) Nigel- Finding Nemo (2003). Nigel is a pelican who gets along with the dentist fish. He also gets Marlin & Dory to the dentists office to find Nemo. There are also the other pelicans with him in the harbor. 65) Seagulls- Finding Nemo (2003). 1 word…… “MINE!”

66)Ace Cluck- Chicken Little (2005). Ace is the star of this movie, who thinks the sky is falling. But everyone calls him Chicken Little.

67) Buck Cluck- Chicken Little (2005). Buck is chicken little’s Dad who tries to get Ace to stop saying that the sky is falling.

68) Rest of birds in town & school- Chicken Little (2005). There are quite a few more animals in this film, and more birds of course. So, here’s the rest of them: Mayor Turkey Lurkey who is in fact a turkey. Then there’s Goosey Loosey who’s a goose at school & lastly, Abby Mallard who is a duck & a friend of Chicken Little.

69) Valiant & other Pigeons- Valiant(2005). Valiant is the main character of this movie. Honestly, I never watched this one. I didn’t realize it was even Disney until later. I know, I’m lame but it’s on my list of ones to watch. And really Disney, 2 bird films in one year?!

70) Birds in Pixie Hallow- Tinker Bell(2008). The fairy named Fawn works with animals. Before Tink knew what her niche was, she tried to help animals but epically failed with these bluebirds in a nest.

There are of course birds in all the other pixie movies. There are owls, doves, and bluebirds again as well. They do live in a forest of Neverland basically.

71) Pigeons- Bolt (2008). Bolt meets some Pigeons who are pretty dumb, but also very funny.

72) Kevin- Up (2009). KEVIN! Is a big, rainbow, ostrich like bird in paradise falls. Kevin also has babies. Who else wanted a bird like this?!

73) Pigeon who eats the tortilla- Toy Story 3 (2010). When trying to escape the box & the day care center, Mr. Potato head puts himself on a tortilla to hide better. But he comes across a pigeon who pokes a hole in the tortilla, & eats it.

74) Bluebirds- Tangled (2010). They are only in this movie for a second; they fly by Rapunzel when she’s singing after getting out of her tower.

75)Eagle- Brave (2012). This eagle flys above Merida before she climbs the Firefalls. We don’t see it long, but it’s there!

76)Monster Birds- Monsters University (2013). I know it’s not a real bird, but it looks like a pigeon with two heads & a horn!! Pretty funny!

77) Becky- Finding Dory (2016). Becky is a crazy bird who helps Marlin & Nemo get to Dory. It’s pretty funny– “Ooh roo!”

78) Hei Hei- Moana (2016). Hei Hei is the hilarious Chicken who doesn’t have much brains.

Surprisingly, there were NO BIRDS in Zootopia…. why?! Idk, ask Disney. But this is the end of the LONG Disney bird list!! Thank you for reading this one! In case you missed my other Disney animated lists, the links are right here:

I Got a Kitten!

In August…And I just realized that I didn’t blog about it! What the heck, right? To be honest, life has been quite a mess so that’s why I forgot to write about it. If you follow me on Instagram, this isn’t news to you. But to my blog followers, this IS news! So, here we go…

Ok, so first off, in July, we rescued this little guy from my aunt’s work. We named him Simba & it fits him purrfectly! And he’s so adorable &’fun.

Unbeknownst to me, Simba was not going to be mine. If you don’t know, we have a house of cats & only 1 is truly my cat. So, I thought he might be mine in the future. But I was WRONG! And nobody told me until the mom cat abandoned the rest of her litter.. yeah. So, my aunt brought them home for 1 night & told me that I could have the little girl kitten as a peace offering for not being able to have Simba. Mad & upset, at first I said no. Then Aunt Heidi held her up to me and said, “She’s a sweetheart & if you don’t want her, you can pick another one from the group of you want.” This little girl was SO ADORABLE but I still hesitated. When Aunt Becky came home, she told me a girl would probably be better for MY cat (Alice) anyways, since she thinks she’s a princess. So, I am doomed to be a cat lady. And yes, I kept the girl kitten & named her Nala. Perfect right?

This all happened in August. So, now I technically have 2 cats; Alice & Nala. Nana & Simba are much bigger now, (they are now 6 months old) and they are even more fun! Plus it’s been great to be involved at raising them from 2/3 weeks to now. Take a look! I’ll start with photos of them younger to now….

I love how soft kittens are!! Don’t you?? This is them in like, October I think..

Nala… btw I love that she looks like a cheetah!

And Simba, who loves the other cats too! Which is good because he’s got to live with them forever.

And here’s December & now!

They are so huge now!! And my cat, Alice, isn’t too sure what to think of them when they play in her room every night…

but she IS ok with Nala sleeping with us… well, kinda.

So this has been my life lately. Pretty fun!
