Disney Animals List: Birds

“Birds of a feather should flock together.”

It’s another Disney animated animals list! This time, we are looking at all the birds. Birds: their small and sometimes not seen, but heard. Disney has always done a great job with birds, their characters, sounds & actions!

There are a few movies I never saw in the early 2000s (I know, it’s crazy) so if there’s animals from them I missed, please comment & tell me! I will not be offended. But on all the other classics and such, I know what I’m doing. πŸ˜‰ So here we go!

1) Baby Blue Bird- Snow White (1937). Just before the Huntsman decided not to kill Snow, she was holding a baby blue bird who was lost. He was THE FIRST Disney animated bird on a film! He & his parents also showed up in the rest of the movie. There were other birds in the forest too, but these 3 stood out.

2)Crow & Vultures- Snow White (1937). These are the evil birds in the film. The crow watches the evil queen make her potion & poison apple. He’s kinda funny. The vultures linger in the woods, watching the queen. In the end, they lead you to believe that the vultures went down to pick at the queens crushed body…. Ew!

3) Blue Fairy’s Dove- Pinocchio (1940). In Pinocchio, a magical dove brings a note from the Blue Fairy. The note tells Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket that Gapetto has been swallowed by Monstro, the whale! So yeah, the dove doesn’t do much… But it was there!

4) Doves with Girl Minotaurs- Fantasia (1940). What is it with doves?? Anyways… These doves sit on a girl Minotaur’s hair as a chic hairstyle. It’s funny!

5) Ostrich Ballerinas- Fantasia (1940). These are my favorite!! I love the music, I love their dancing. So cute! Not to mention, this became iconic.

6) Crows in a Tree- Dumbo (1941). These crows aren’t until the end of the film. However, they are very funny. I love their song too! And they fit the era of this movie very well. It’s cool how Disney does that.

7) Birds in Forest- Bambi (1942). Now, there are tons of birds in this film. So I’ll break them down by species and keep them in one group…. Oh! And all of them are also in the rain scene.

Friend Owl: The owl knows everyone & seems to know everything. I love when he talks about being twitterpated! Speaking of that…..

Lovebirds of the forest: There they all are! The twitterpated birds which drive the owl nuts.

Mama Quail & Babies: These guys are so cute! We see them throughout the film, and it’s adorable.

Pheasants: Here’s the group of pheasants. We see a few of these on the rain scene. We mainly meet them in the scene where man has come to the forest. In the photo above is THIS dummy. This ONE pheasant got too anxious and had to fly away. The rest told her to stay put and what happened? She got shot. Yes, this was one of Disney’s cruelest moments, second to Bambi’s mother dying.

And that’s all the birds basically from Bambi!

8) The Three Caballeros (1944). This mini film consist of 3 birds! What? No way! Lol We have the parrot, the red bird, & Donald Duck himself!

9) Mr. Bluebird on My Shoulder- Song of the South (1946). We all know the song… Zip a Dee do dah! There really is a bluebird on his shoulder!

10) Hummingbirds- Song of the South (1946). I really love the fact that these Hummingbirds hum.. haha, good one Disney!

11) Birds- Cinderella (1950). These birds are Cinderella’s friends. They also seem to be her alarm clock. There are blue birds….

And brown birds…..

And this one red bird who’s cute but too loud with his singing.

Overall, they are sweet & help Cinderella all the time. Plus, we see them again in BOTH of Cinderella’s other movies. There were also chickens in the beginning of this movie as well.

12)Normal birds- Alice In Wonderland (1951). There are TONS of birds in this movie. So we will start with the normal birds, then the abnormal ones. When Alice is dreaming up wonderland, there’s a bluebird who sings back to her. This guy!

There are also some bigger, normal birds in wonderland…

For example, the parrots, pelican & tucan(?) that run around the Dodo bird.

And I guess we could count Mr. Dodo as normal. Even though he is a little wacky haha.

Another “normal looking” bird in Alice In Wonderland, is this bird below. She’s the one who has a nest & thinks Alice is some kind of serpent. Also, she & Dodo are wearing some type of clothes while no other birds do… very curious.

The last normal birds we see are during the game of croquet; the flamingos! They may be used in a weird way, but what isn’t weird about this movie?!

13) Abnormal Birds of Wonderland- Alice In Wonderland (1951). This group is going to get confusing. Please note, most of these birds idk they’re names so I’m kinda making one up. Here we go….

Just before Alice gets lost, we see all these birds in this area. First, we see this organ-owl who is pretty funny.

Next we see the birdcage; a bird that’s also a cage-for birds- get it?! Haha I crack myself up.

Another bird we see is this mirror bird with a friend who is a pair of glasses. When the glasses appear in the mirror, Alice disappears & thus gives the mirror bird eyes! Trippy!

We also see these taller, Shovel birds. They seem more like cranes possibly…

Next, we see the Hammet & Pencil birds making a sign.

As Alice follows a path that’s been erased, she runs into the next birds who aren’t so kind to her…

She see’s these Umbrella Vultures. I say vultures because that’s what they looked folded up. When these guys fly into a tree, they glare at her like vultures as well.

Lastly, she see’s this Horn Duck family. The mother is quite rude to Alice.

When Alice is sad that she’s lost, all the abnormal birds come back to her and get sad like her. You can say they are part of her imagination & are tied to her feelings.

14) Swans- Peter Pan (1953). Yes, there are swans when they leave London in the beginning. Tinkerbell flies by a few AND this happens….

PETER WTF are you doing?! Those poor swans, at least we know he’s light…..

15) Bird that gets shaved- Peter Pan (1953). I love this scene. It’s always cracked me up. Smee thinks this bird’s butt is Hook’s face… he really isn’t paying attention is he?! Like, how did he forget to unwrap Hook from the towel he wrapped around it?!

16) Black birds- Lady & the Tramp (1955). These birds are in Lady’s yard, and she quickly chases them away. There is a whole group of them that fly. It seems to be a routine for her.

17) Doves- Lady & the Tramp (1955). All I can say is, “Hi gals, how’s pickin’s?”- Tramp to these birds….

18) Birds in window & parrot- Lady & the Tramp (1955). Here are more birds in this film, there aren’t many. First, there are the birds in the window once the baby is born.

Next, there is a parrot in the pet shop when Lady gets a muzzle. There are also some other birds that she accidentally lets out when running away.

19) Birds in Belle Note- Lady & the Tramp (1955). We see lots of birds during Lady & Tramp’s love night…. or should I say love birds? Haha

There are two owls side by side in a tree. Then there are two swans swimming in the lake. So much love!!

20) Chasing Chickens- Lady & the Tramp (1955). Ever chase chickens? I should say not! And these two probably shouldn’t have, but these are the last birds we see in this film.

21) Birds in forest- Sleeping Beauty (1959). Honestly, I love these birds. These birds are all friends of “Briar Rose” or Aurora as we know her. There is a whole group of them!

22) Owl- Sleeping Beauty (1959). The owl is pretty cute. He and some of the birds try to cheer Briar Rose up by being her “dream prince”. Pretty smart!

23) Maleficent’s Raven- Sleeping Beauty (1959). Maleficent’s raven is the one who finds Aurora’s location. He is a well trained pet to be honest.

24) Archimedes the owl- Sword In the Stone (1963). Archimedes is a highly educated owl– meaning he talks! He’s pretty funny in this film, as well as grumpy! Haha

If you think about it, the wart or Arthur becomes a bird in this film too, but we won’t really count him.

25) Evil Hawk & bird in nest- Sword In the Stone (1963). This bird is pure evil! The hawk we see twice, and he just looks so intense! Look at him!

We also see a scrawny bird in a nest when Merlin & Arthur are squirrels for a day. This bird gets PISSED OFF at Arthur for running into him. Those squirrelly squirrels!!

26) Band of Vultures- The Jungle Book (1967). If you notice in this film, Walt wanted some great singers in it. He had some famous voices in there, and these birds were supposed to be The Beatles! These guys are fun for a group of Vultures. And the only birds we see.

27) Abigail & Amelia Gabble, the Geese- The Aristocats (1970). These sisters are amazing. I love how they try to teach Mr. O’Malley to swim when cats don’t swim. Hahaha

28) Uncle Waldo- The Aristocats (1970). MY personal favorite!  Especially when he’s marinated. This British goose is quite a drunk. So here’s this meme I found of his best part…. SHERRY!! Loling on the floor, every time.

29) Lady Cluck- Robin Hood (1973). Clucky is pretty funny. She’s always ready to take on someone too!

30) Trigger & Nutsy- Robin Hood (1973). Trigger & Nutsy are the guards of the jail & they do whatever the sheriff tells them.

31) Bluebird- The Rescuers (1977). Yes, there is another bluebird! But this one isn’t in it for long.

32) Orville the Albatross- The Rescuers (1977). Orville is a big bird who flies mice to their destination. It seems in the end of the film that he became Bianca & Bernard’s personal pilot.

33) Owl- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977). We can’t forget our friend Owl! And yes, Owl has been in all the other Pooh movies, especially the recent one, done in 2011.

34) Big Mama- Fox & The Hound (1981). What is with all the owls?! Anyways, big mama helps save Todd when he’s a baby. But she didn’t do it alone….

35) Dinky & Boomer- Fox & The Hound (1981). These two are the comic relief of this film. They chase a caterpillar throughout the entire film too! I believe Dinky is the little bird, & Boomer is the woodpecker.

36) Forrest birds- Fox & the Hound (1981). Of course, we see birds flying in this film as well as dead birds in the neighbors shed.

37) Scuttle- The Little Mermaid (1989). Scuttle! He’s a pretty funny seagull who really doesn’t know much. He also returns in the little mermaid 2!

38) Birds singing- The Little Mermaid (1989). During the song Kiss the Girl, it seems like all kinds of animals are singing. There were 2 birds singing in that blue lagoon…..

Yes, there were ducks & flamingos! And Scuttle was the only bird who couldn’t sing. lol

39) Marahoote- The Rescuers Down Under (1990). Marahoote (I think that’s how it’s spelled), was the biggest bird in Australia. Toby, a little boy who I think was based off of Steve Irwin, saves her from a poachers trap. Throughout the story, Toby tries to save this magnificent, giant eagle & her eggs.

40) Wilbur- The Rescuers Down Under (1990). Wilbur is an albatross & is Orville’s little brother. It seems Orville isn’t available & Wilbur gets to take Bernard & Bianca to Australia. He’s also voiced by John Candy who was very funny.

41) Flying Flamingos- The Rescuers Down Under (1990). Wilbur loses track of the mice, so as he’s flying he runs into theee flamingos. But they’re flying! I don’t think flamingos fly, do they?!

42) Scrooge & Cast- DuckTales The Movie (1990). Are you singing the song yet? I AM!! So, Scrooge obviously isn’t new to the Disney world. But Disney channel made THE BEST tv show with him, & Huey, Duey & Louie! Donald Duck made an appearance every now & then. There were also new main birds in this show/movie including: the boys’ little sister Webby, the maid Mrs. Beakly, & Scrooge’s private pilot (my fav) Launch Pad. The movie was just as great to watch! And the movie had a duck genie

43)Belle’s Chickens- Beauty & the Beast(1991). Yes, Belle has chickens. We see them right before she sings THE best song on a hilltop.

44) Birds in snow- Beauty & the Beast(1991). These are the birds that Belle feeds at the castle. They also sit in the beast’s hands as well.

45) Iago- Aladdin(1992). Iago is Jafar’s sidekick. He’s pretty funny. I do like how in the later movies & tv shows he was on Aladdin’s side.

46) Doves & other birds- Aladdin (1992). There were other birds in this film too! Jasmine has pet doves that she sets free. There are also flamingos in the palace. There are birds in the sky when Jasmine & Aladdin are flying on the magic carpet. And lastly, there are peacocks in Aladdin’s parade made by the genie.

47) Zazu- The Lion King (1994). Zazu is Mufasa’s advisor basically. He is a big part of Pride Rock until Mufasa dies. With Scar, he just entertains him to avoid being eaten. And he was also in the second movie AND he’s in the new tv show, The Lion Guard.

48) Flit- Pocahontas (1995). Flit is the stubborn hummingbird that watches over Pocahontas. He is pretty good & cute.

49). Eagles- Pocahontas (1995). The eagles are when Pocahontas is singing “Colors of the Wind”. There’s only 2 of them.

50) Baby Bird in Nest- The Hunchback of Norte Dame (1996). This bird is so cute; this bird is scared to fly until Quasimodo convinces it that it’s ok to fly. “Nobody wants to be cooped up here forever.”

51) Doves- The Hunchback of Norte Dame (1996). These doves (I think) follow one of the gargoyles around all the time. It drives her crazy!

52) Pain & Panic as Birds- Hercules (1997). We see these two as birds when Meg is supposed to find Hercules’ weakness. These are the only “birds” in the film.

53) Shan- Yu’s Falcon- Mulan (1998). This falcon sees everything & tells Shan-Yu. It’s kinda creepy! But then Mushu fries it’s feathers off and it’s hilarious.

54) THE Bird- A Bug’s Life (1998). This was the first bird done by Pixar! And it’s not just this bird who tries to eat everyone, there’s the fake bird the ants made, AND the real bird’s chicks which we see at the end, eating Hopper.

55) Big Bird- Tarzan (1999). I have no idea what this bird is called, but Tarzan & Turk try to rope it as kids but are unsuccessful….

56) Parrots in Jungle- Tarzan (1999). These are the birds that Jane tries to draw. Then, Tarzan takes her into the trees where they all live to see tons of them. Btw, this scene is beautiful.

57) Donald Duck & Daisy- Fantasia 2000(1999). Yes, we get to see Donald & Daisy in this one! They are part of the Noah’s arc scene…

58) Other birds- Fantasia 2000(1999). Here are all the other birds in this masterpiece film…. There’s the Famingo with a Yoyo:

Birds in the sky while those whales fly:

And lastly, the evil Fire bird:

59) Tip the Penguin- The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea(2000). Tip is a penguin who hangs out with a walrus. Melody- Ariel’s daughter- meets these two after turning into a mermaid.

60) Singing Hummingbirds- The Tigger Movie (2000). These Hummingbirds help Tigger sing his sad song about being lonely. Yes, they hum, and it’s a sneaky reference to the ones in Songs of the South. Nice one Disney!

61) Ted- Monsters Inc. (2001). Ted is a big bird monster. We only see his feet BUT he caws like a rooster, so do the math. Lol

62) The Ugly Duckling – Lilo & Stitch (2002). Stitch reads the story about The Ugly Duckling one night. Later, he sees a family of ducks & no ugly duckling.

63) Flock of birds- Brother Bear (2003). When Kenai turns into a bear, he hears these birds talking as they fly above him. I believe the same birds are at the salmon run as well.

64) Nigel- Finding Nemo (2003). Nigel is a pelican who gets along with the dentist fish. He also gets Marlin & Dory to the dentists office to find Nemo. There are also the other pelicans with him in the harbor. 65) Seagulls- Finding Nemo (2003). 1 word…… “MINE!”

66)Ace Cluck- Chicken Little (2005). Ace is the star of this movie, who thinks the sky is falling. But everyone calls him Chicken Little.

67) Buck Cluck- Chicken Little (2005). Buck is chicken little’s Dad who tries to get Ace to stop saying that the sky is falling.

68) Rest of birds in town & school- Chicken Little (2005). There are quite a few more animals in this film, and more birds of course. So, here’s the rest of them: Mayor Turkey Lurkey who is in fact a turkey. Then there’s Goosey Loosey who’s a goose at school & lastly, Abby Mallard who is a duck & a friend of Chicken Little.

69) Valiant & other Pigeons- Valiant(2005). Valiant is the main character of this movie. Honestly, I never watched this one. I didn’t realize it was even Disney until later. I know, I’m lame but it’s on my list of ones to watch. And really Disney, 2 bird films in one year?!

70) Birds in Pixie Hallow- Tinker Bell(2008). The fairy named Fawn works with animals. Before Tink knew what her niche was, she tried to help animals but epically failed with these bluebirds in a nest.

There are of course birds in all the other pixie movies. There are owls, doves, and bluebirds again as well. They do live in a forest of Neverland basically.

71) Pigeons- Bolt (2008). Bolt meets some Pigeons who are pretty dumb, but also very funny.

72) Kevin- Up (2009). KEVIN! Is a big, rainbow, ostrich like bird in paradise falls. Kevin also has babies. Who else wanted a bird like this?!

73) Pigeon who eats the tortilla- Toy Story 3 (2010). When trying to escape the box & the day care center, Mr. Potato head puts himself on a tortilla to hide better. But he comes across a pigeon who pokes a hole in the tortilla, & eats it.

74) Bluebirds- Tangled (2010). They are only in this movie for a second; they fly by Rapunzel when she’s singing after getting out of her tower.

75)Eagle- Brave (2012). This eagle flys above Merida before she climbs the Firefalls. We don’t see it long, but it’s there!

76)Monster Birds- Monsters University (2013). I know it’s not a real bird, but it looks like a pigeon with two heads & a horn!! Pretty funny!

77) Becky- Finding Dory (2016). Becky is a crazy bird who helps Marlin & Nemo get to Dory. It’s pretty funny– “Ooh roo!”

78) Hei Hei- Moana (2016). Hei Hei is the hilarious Chicken who doesn’t have much brains.

Surprisingly, there were NO BIRDS in Zootopia…. why?! Idk, ask Disney. But this is the end of the LONG Disney bird list!! Thank you for reading this one! In case you missed my other Disney animated lists, the links are right here:

Here’s a funny comic from Amy Mebberson who makes Pocket Princesses comics. Thought this one was cute with Scuttle!

I Got a Kitten!

In August…And I just realized that I didn’t blog about it! What the heck, right? To be honest, life has been quite a mess so that’s why I forgot to write about it. If you follow me on Instagram, this isn’t news to you. But to my blog followers, this IS news! So, here we go…

Ok, so first off, in July, we rescued this little guy from my aunt’s work. We named him Simba & it fits him purrfectly! And he’s so adorable &’fun.

Unbeknownst to me, Simba was not going to be mine. If you don’t know, we have a house of cats & only 1 is truly my cat. So, I thought he might be mine in the future. But I was WRONG! And nobody told me until the mom cat abandoned the rest of her litter.. yeah. So, my aunt brought them home for 1 night & told me that I could have the little girl kitten as a peace offering for not being able to have Simba. Mad & upset, at first I said no. Then Aunt Heidi held her up to me and said, “She’s a sweetheart & if you don’t want her, you can pick another one from the group of you want.” This little girl was SO ADORABLE but I still hesitated. When Aunt Becky came home, she told me a girl would probably be better for MY cat (Alice) anyways, since she thinks she’s a princess. So, I am doomed to be a cat lady. And yes, I kept the girl kitten & named her Nala. Perfect right?

This all happened in August. So, now I technically have 2 cats; Alice & Nala. Nana & Simba are much bigger now, (they are now 6 months old) and they are even more fun! Plus it’s been great to be involved at raising them from 2/3 weeks to now. Take a look! I’ll start with photos of them younger to now….

I love how soft kittens are!! Don’t you?? This is them in like, October I think..

Nala… btw I love that she looks like a cheetah!

And Simba, who loves the other cats too! Which is good because he’s got to live with them forever.

And here’s December & now!

They are so huge now!! And my cat, Alice, isn’t too sure what to think of them when they play in her room every night…

but she IS ok with Nala sleeping with us… well, kinda.

So this has been my life lately. Pretty fun!

**If you aren’t already, check out my shop’s Instagram @strndbyKylie_jewelry every week for my #disneycatmonday posts! These cuties are on there and tons more! Or you could just search that hashtag lol

*Also, I’m currently working on a new Disney animal list blog AND possibly another big one… can’t wait to finish them soon! Thanks for reading.

..And a Crappy New Year!Β

I hope that 2017 is WAY better than 2016. I know I’m not alone in hoping so. I had some good points in the beginning but the end of it has sucked. Not to mention all the famous people who’ve died! Including my Nana…

R.I.P to the following:

David Bowie

Goblin King forever…

Alan Rickman

Always… πŸ’”

Dan Haggerty

Doris Roberts

She was on a lot of shows & movies!

Anton Yelchin

So young! So sad.

Gene Wilder

This man was so funny, full of wisdom and had a world of pure imagination.

Arnold Palmer

Not just a famous drink…

Mohammad Ali

What a guy & what a fighter..

Florence Henderson

Oh man! Not her too!

Alan Thicke

Wait… WHAT?! How did I not hear about this?

Zsa Zsa Gabor

So beautiful

George Michael

Carrie Fisher

NO!! Not Princess Leia!

Debbie Reynolds

Carrie Fisher’s mom, whose last words were “I wanna be with Carrie.” Only a few days after her daughter. So sad!!😫

And many more! ;(

Yup, this year has had so many deaths I can’t remember them all. So freaking sad! I can’t wait for it to be over. But the sad truth is, 2017 may not be better than this year, and here’s why: it’s only better if you make it better. Yes, some things may be out of control-like death- but other personal issues are on yourself. It’s quite a pill to swallow sometimes.

So when you ring in the new year, try to make it a good one. I know I will try! Good luck to everyone in the new year!!

Dear Nana

Dear Nana,

You left too soon, but I’m thankful for the time we had together…..

In this blog is what I wrote about my Nana for her celebration of life. She passed away in September & our celebration was in October. (I meant to post this sooner, but things have been hectic.) I couldn’t get up and say this without crying, so I typed it up. I put it on a lovely poster board for all our family & friends to read it. Some people didn’t really get to read it… there were so many people to visit with (which I totally understand, I was busy too).

So, I’m posting it now so that people may read it if they missed it. I also think I did a really good job writing it. The pictures on here weren’t on the poster, but it’ll help you visualize that day that we celebrated Rebecca S. Holt’s life. In fact, the photo below is of the group of pictures that where right next to my poster. It was a lovely set up, that me and my family did all on our own. It’s how Nana would have wanted it. Another reason I’m posting this is because it’s close to the holidays and I’m feeling a lot of depression. I miss her, and I didn’t even get to truly have a Thanksgiving this year– thanks to corporate America! All I want right now is more time with my family, is that a crime?! Haha. Writing this again will help remind me how she was & would want me to be….

Rebecca was a beautiful soul, a strong person, and a kind woman. My family has called her Nana since about 1995, and I know she loved being called that. She would tell all my friends when meeting them, “Just call me Nana.” Becky cared for her family as a daughter, sister, mother & grandmother, sometimes more than she even cared for herself. Having 4 children and 6 grandchildren, it was natural to put us all first. Nana was also a great friend to more people than I have even met! Even if you didn’t know it, she was going to make sure that you were taken care of, no matter what. Before her stroke in 2012, Becky took some of her kids, grandkids & her mother on a week-long trip to San Diego as a retirement celebration. We all had so much fun and I’m very glad we got that time with her before her life changed drastically.

The last four years have been a struggle for all of us, and we’d like to thank everyone who helped us raise money for her care & paint therapy through GoFundMe.com or any other way. It was great to see her painting again. When I was still dancing, Nana & Mom created make up for an entire show, based off of their painting skills. She loved every minute of it! The day before her stroke, she was painting with Aunt Becky & Aunt Heidi. After her stroke, Aunt Julie & I stepped in to help Mom with the make up for the 2 years of shows that she missed. That make up would not have been possible without her in the beginning. Furthermore, we couldn’t have done it if she hadn’t taught us all how years ago. I think it is something we will always cherish. Since she has passed, it is good to finally have closure and now we know she is in a better place.

So all I’d like to do today–besides share good memories–is to thank her; Thank her for always being there when someone needed her most. Nana was there for all of her children in many ways, throughout their lives. I also know she was there for many of her friends as well. For me, I never had just Mom around. As well as the many aunts, uncles & amazing great grandparents, I got to have Nana. She was like another mom to me, and I had her instead of a Dad. I think deep down, that’s why I nicknamed her “Nana” after the dog in Peter Pan–one if her favorite movies. She wasn’t just my grandmother, she was there all the time and wouldn’t miss a second if she didn’t have to. Nana couldn’t even miss out on a sunset each day! I remember a while back, she would sometimes call me at night and say, “Did you catch that sunset?” or “Take a look at that moon. It’s so big and beautiful. Isn’t it just gorgeous?” And now, I catch myself stopping to watch them more often. They are beautiful, just like she always said they were.

So today, let’s celebrate Nana, Becky, or whatever you knew her as. Let’s all care for each other, drink a Diet Dr. Pepper, and enjoy every minute we have together. We love you Nana, and we will all miss you so much! In my opinion, you left us too soon….

Kylie & the Holt Family.

Thank you for reading! These bouquets I helped my aunt make for that day. Nana loved all things nature too….

Hermione’s Butterbeer RecipeΒ

All Harry Potter fans know about Butterbeer, but few have tasted it. If you’ve been to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios, you’ve been lucky enough to have some! And it is SO GOOD! Right?! Right. Since the new part of the park has opened, a Butterbeer has been very popular to get. Everyone has to experience one. I’m so glad I did!

This drink is downright magical, and also pretty sweet. Butterbeer has also become something that many people want to make at home. So did I! I decided to make it for Halloween this year. I searched & found several recipes that I didn’t use for a few reasons: 1) They were too complicated (I’m no chef, ok!), 2) They made it a slushee or freeze (which is an option at the park, but I wanted the regular drink), & 3) Some recipes were just crazy confusing!

SO, I decided to use my research & make something that was what I thought was close to the Butterbeer that I had. I also wanted it simplified so that it wouldn’t be too hard to make… and like I said, I’m not a chef, I just want something yummy!! Lol Since I dressed up as Hermione for Halloween this year, I’m calling it Hermione’s Butterbeer. And let’s face it, if she ever made Butterbeer, she would do it quick!

*Acccio- Butterbeer! *

Ingredients for a single serving (don’t worry, I’ll provide measurements for bigger amounts as well)

8 ounces of Creme Soda (A&W’s is best)

– 1 tablespoon of Hot water

– 2 tablespoons of Butterscotch Syrup topping (Smuckers)

-Whipped cream (optional)

Before you make it- notes:: I was able to find Butterscotch syrup at Food 4 Less. Many recipes created something similar to it using brown sugar & a few other ingredients. This just makes it easier by like…. 5 steps! Also, many people actually used Butter. I didn’t really taste it in the drink I had, so I vetoed that idea! I went off of my tastebuds and it was a hit. So let’s get started….
~How to do it~

1st: Pour your tablespoons of butterscotch syrup into a cup or measuring cup–it’s easier with a measuring cup. Make sure it is clear & big enough for 8 ounces!

2nd: Take hot water and drizzle barley 1 tablespoon into butterscotch syrup. This dilutes the bold butterscotch flavor just a tiny bit. Use your judgement on how much exactly for you.  Too much will loose almost all of its taste. Stir or whisk until the mixture is more liquid-like instead of thick syrup.

3rd: Pour cream soda slowly into butterscotch cup. Stir or whisk until it is well mixed!

*Hint: check bottom of cup to see if butterscotch is sitting at the bottom. You’ll notice the color change. If there is, stir some more & scrape the bottom gently. If there isn’t, it’s ready!

4th: Pour in a cool looking cup; a shorter cup is better because you can get some of the foam in every drink.

5th: If you want, add a dollop of whipped cream to the top of the drink. It makes the drink a little creamy at the top instead of just being all foam.

Drink up & enjoy!!

Another option, which seemed to be popular in other recipes, is to add Vanilla Ice cream. However, when I used it, my drink just turned into a type of float. This is caused by the mixture of ice cream and the soda. If you want that, great! But you definitely taste more vanilla than butterscotch, so I wouldn’t dilute it if that’s what you want.

Another Adult Option of course is to add alcohol. Vodka is probably best, but don’t do a crazy flavor unless it’s whipped cream… that worked for us! It was delicious. The only other thing I can picture spiking it with would be Rum. But that is entirely up to you.

Make some more! Here is a 32 ounce recipe (could serve about 4 people). The steps are the same but here are the ingredient measurements.

-32 ounces of Cream Soda

– 2 tablespoons of Hot water

– 1/2 a cup of Butterscotch syrup

* Engorgio*

Party size me! Haha this is how much I made on Halloween… and I think I needed more maybe! I did this recipe twice so that I had double. I used two whole cram Soda bottles, the big ones! I put x2 next to each ingredient so you know to double it or do it twice.

– 64 ounces/ 2 liters of Cream Soda (big bottle) x2

– 1/4 cup of Hot water x2

– 1 cup of Butterscotch syrup x2

*Note: most measuring cups only go to 32 ounces. So, mix the butterscotch & Soda in segments that you want (doesn’t have to be exact) and pour it all into another vessel like an empty gallon water bottle. It’ll all come together. Pouring segments in also helps mix it. The foam will take up a lot of space! It’s ok. But DO NOT shake it to mix…. it will explode out the top! And that would be a gastly mess to clean up, without magic.

Keep this drink in a fridge until it’s ready to drink OR go to a party. πŸ˜‰ It tastes better cold, just like at the park.

There you have it! One of the fastest & easiest ways to make Butterbeer at home! It will be a hit at parties for years to come. I know my family loved it. It’s something kids can enjoy too, plus they feel extra cool since it has the word beer in it. Lol

I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do. And to my friends, let’s have a party & I’ll make some more, cuz you ALL missed out tonight! Haha

Tramp’s Back Story: Part 3

Yes, there’s more to Tramp’s adventures before he met Lady…

Check out Part 1 & Part 2 of Tramp’s puppy years. So here’s the next & final chapter. Enjoy!

Tramp’s Story From the Beginning Part 3

It was cold. Tramp felt water on his nose. He opened his eyes to see how dark it was. Where was he? As he looked up, he discovered it was also raining. Then Tramp remembered, it was raining earlier–when he fell asleep…

Tramp was so tired from running & walking, hiding & running some more. His paws hurt, but not as much as his heart. He’d only been on his own for a few hours. He had no humans, no rules, and nobody watching him. At first he was ecstatic! The moment he leaped that fence, he knew was free. However, as the evening went on, he got tired and hungry. The cars and carriages scared him at times. He sometimes didn’t hear them coming! One car almost hit him but he ducked down quick, laying down flat in the street. This was when Tramp knew he needed to find food & shelter, fast.

As Tramp walked through the town, he got to a weird building. It took him a minute to figure out that it was a train station. He saw some men in dirty overalls walking from an engine. They were loud; laughing and joking around. They walked closer to the building and sat at an old table. It was almost dark out. Tramp snuck a little closer, trying to be quiet. He watched as one of the men drank out of a dark bottle. Another guy–who was taller than the rest– started eating something from a sack. It looked like a sandwich. Tramp started licking his lips, hoping that man would have leftovers. But how would he get to them? He didn’t see any trash cans around to dig through. He didn’t know these men, so begging probably wouldn’t work. Or would it??

Tramp held very still behind a bush. He waited until the right moment–when the tall man was almost done eating everything in his sack–to come out in the open. Tramp ran up to the building and stopped, making sure to look lost. He put on his begging face and starred at the tall man. The other guys started laughing, saying “Look at that mutt. He looks lost.” “And hungry” another one said. Tramp knew his target. He wouldn’t stop looking at the man who had part of the sandwich in his hand.

The tall man stood up. Tramp backed up a little, acting scared like when he was a pup. It became silent as the man walked slowly towards the dog. As the man got closer, his face looked colder. Tramp looked down at the ground. He thought he was getting in trouble for sure. Tramp finally looked up at the man who was now standing in front of him. “You poor dog. I’m not gonna hurt ya,” the man said as he knelt down to the dog’s level. Tramp looked at him both with sadness & hope. He was happy not to be in trouble. The man took out the meat from his leftovers and another whole sandwich that was in his sack. Tramp started frantically eating the meat as soon as it touched the ground. He didn’t care what it was, but it tasted great. This put a smile on the man’s face.

The train workers found an open, empty barrel that Tramp could sleep in. They took it by a water tower & tipped it on its side. The water tower was on the other side of the train tracks, but back enough that the dog wouldn’t get hurt. Tramp was a little scared to go over there. “It’s alright,” the tall man said. “No trains ride this track anymore. You can stay here. We won’t tell the pound, right boys?” Tramp looked at the other men. “Oh yeah, they’ll never find out. They never look on this side of the tracks.” one man said. They called him over, and Tramp obeyed. Tramp stepped into the barrel; it smelled like wet wood. It was shelter nonetheless. Tramp layed down as all the men pet his head. “Good dog. Get some rest,” the tall man said as he disappeared into the night. Thunder struck, and rain started to shower as Tramps eyes heavily shut.

… As Tramp remembered his journey here, he felt a little more safe. He dozed off again–sleeping through the night– so that he was ready to explore in the morning.

Tramp awoke to the sound of a rooster crowing. The sun was shining bright and it felt warm. As he stretched out his front paws, Tramp yawned to wake himself up. As he shook off water from his back paws, he turned to look inside his barrel. Most of the rain water from last week was gone. His shelter wasn’t waterproof, but he liked it. After all, it was outside! Outside was Tramp’s favorite place to be.

It had been a week since Tramp first came to the train station. He was still exploring the town. He didn’t like going too far from his new home yet. Tramp had heard about the pound; it was a place they took dogs with no collars. They would be there forever until a human picked them up. Tramp was one of those dogs now. However, he knew he could never get caught. The pound car came around only once a week, maybe. In the area that he knew, he’d found a junk yard, a house with a chicken coop and a couple shops. Today, he’d wander the street just a little further.

The further he walked, Tramp got a funny feeling. It wasn’t one to be scared of–it was almost like he’d been on this street before. The dog looked around and saw a pet shop. Was this the same one he lived in a year ago? As he pranced to the window, he recognized the inside of the store. This was where he grew up. There were new puppies in the window now. Tramp wondered what had happened to the others. Did they get adopted? He would never know.

Tramp turned around and saw a cake shop across from the pet store. He looked down the street, then crossed. He learned this after watching some humans a couple times. It helped him not get hit by cars anymore! Tramp got to the cake shop door and scratched on it. Was anyone home? The door opened and a skinny guy stood there. “Hello?” He said looking up and around. Tramp barked and the man nearly jumped ten feet. “Woah, what the heck are you doin’ here, eh?!” Tramp sat down and wagged his tail. He was definitely trying to look cute. Hey, he was hungry so why not?

“Are you hungry boy, huh?” The man said bending down. Tramp started licking his face with excitement. “Hey now, stop that. If you want breakfast from me there’s no licking allowed.” The man pointed his finger at the dog’s nose, “Capish?!” Tramp nodded his head yes. Then, he waited patiently for his hand out. After a few minutes, the man brought Tramp some yellow stuff in a dish. Tramp looked at it funny. “What!?” the man said noticing the look. “It’s eggs, a la scrambled. You’ll like it, trust me.” Tramp cautiously smelled the bowl filled with yellow mush. It did smell good. As Tramp ate it, he loved the taste of it! He licked the bowl clean and barked his own goodbye to the shop owner. This was a place to come eat!

Over time, Tramp tried all the restaurants on that road. There were 4 to be exact. He liked them all and switched it up during the week; breakfast, lunch & dinner too! Each place had something different to offer. Sometimes, the tall man would bring him a sandwich for breakfast at the train station. Tramp really started to enjoy his free life.

One day, Tramp was walking back to the train station when he heard something. It was coming from the junk yard down the road. Tramp had gone over there a couple times to dig for bones- if there were any. So he crept through a huge drain pipe to get inside. As he stepped down, he heard a loud whine from a few feet away. Tramp froze, sniffing the air to see what it was that was making such noise.

The smell came from an area of the yard full of tires. Tramp slowly walked over to the tires and attempted not to make a sound. A car driving by made a loud thud after hitting a bump in the road. Just then, the whining got louder! Tramp ran up to a front tire and jumped on top of it. Then he saw what was inside. He expected an annoying cat but he was wrong. Inside the tire was a small Rottweiler puppy. The pup was shaking and looked up at Tramp with fear.

“Oh, hey little guy. Whatcha doin here?”

“Hiding” squeaked the puppy. “Hiding from who?” asked Tramp. “The big dog out there.” Tramp looked around. He crept down to the puppy and said, “Buddy, there’s no big dog around here. Well, except me but I ain’t that big to scare anybody.” The puppy’s tail started to wag. “Come on, let’s get you outta that tire buster.” Tramp grabbed the puppy by the scruff with his teeth. When he placed him on the ground, the little Rottweiler started jumping up to lick Tramp. It was a dog’s way of thank you.

“So kid, what’s your name?” Tramp said. “I don’t have one. Can you give me one??” the puppy asked Tramp excitedly. Tramp leaned back and hesitated; he didn’t want this pup thinking he was his father. So he thought up a generic name. “Hmm… Buster actually seems to fit you. How’s that?” The puppy jumped up and said, “Oh I like that a lot. What’s your name?” “I’m Tramp. Why don’t you come with me to get some food.” Together, they went to Tony’s restaurant and ate some bones for lunch. It was the start of a good friendship.

Buster & Tramp quickly became almost inseparable. They’d sleep together in Tramp’s barrel and they’d roam the town all day & night. Occasionally they would go back to the junk yard to play around. It was fun, there was nothing that could be ruined! There were cars in pieces, beds, tires, and tons of other junk to rip up. It was good too since Buster wasn’t fully potty trained. Tramp didn’t quite know how to train him either. But he did give him steet smarts! He showed him to stay away from the dog catchers, what food to get, and the safe places of town.

Months went by and the two had grown to be the town bachelors of dogs. They did whatever they wanted. They’d steal some food or toy balls at the park from other dogs. Well, Buster would steal… Tramp didn’t like that, it was Buster’s idea. When Buster was relishing in his victories, Tramp usually apologized to the dog they stole from. It was always a house dog. Tramp made sure they never stole from a human, especially kids. That was just cruel. They’d go eat at the local restaurants as well. But they mostly hid from the dog catchers as they prowled the streets. It was starting to get worse. The pound sent out cars more than once a week.

Dogs of all ages caught wind of what Tramp & Buster were going. Some pups ran away from home to join the big dogs. Eventually some other dogs joined them, even old ones. They all lived in the junk yard together & played all day. Most of them loved the freedom.  By the end of that year, there were at least 12 dogs, not counting Buster and Tramp. They started calling themselves the band of “Junkyard Dogs”. Tramp did like his distance though. At night, after the pups & other dogs would settle down, Tramp would leave them. Sometimes he would go meet up with a female dog. But most nights he’d just go home to his barrel. It was nice to have his own space.

There were days were Tramp wouldn’t meet up with the Junkyard Dogs. He knew it was too risky and they all could get caught at some point. Instead, he’d explore the streets more. He would run into the other dogs eventually anyways. One day he bumped into them and they started pestering him. “Hey Tramp,” Buster barked–who was now almost fully grown. “Where you running off too now a days? You’re mommy?!” All the dogs laughed. Tramp just stared at Buster, not even blinking. Buster’s smile left his face as he saw Tramp’s seriousness.

Tramp got real close to Buster alone. “I don’t think I can hang with you pups anymore,” Tramp whispered. “Pups?! We ain’t babies anymore Tramp. We the big dogs now!” Buster yelled in his face. “Quiet!” Tramp spat at Buster. “The pound is cracking down. If you run in the public like this, in a big group, they’ll remember you! Trust me. I know.” Tramp really did know. They knew who he was too. He was too close to being hauled away, too many times.

Buster looked around the streets. He looked back at Tramp, “They can’t catch me & my band of Junkyard Dogs! I’m invincible. Man, I thought you were our leader Tramp. What happened?” Tramp looked at the ground and shook his head. Looking back up to Buster, he said “I survived better alone. I’ll check on you once in a while but otherwise… I’ll be on my own.” “Fine. I hope to see you around,” Buster said as Tramp walked away. Tramp never looked back, and disappeared into the streets.

Tramp was over 2 years old now. Buster would be a year too. However, Tramp could clearly see the difference between them. Buster wanted desperately to be a leader while Tramp didn’t care. Months went by and Buster eventually became the leader of his Junkyard Dogs. Tramp cared mainly about himself. He would help a dog in need but he didn’t always stick around. He had his secret ways of survival that no one would know.

Tramp would get very lonely. He decided to find his own kind of family–One better than what he’d had. Tramp went to a nicer part of town, not the richest part, but pretty nice! He started meeting families. The first family he met were the Davies. They liked Tramp a lot. He could stay there all night and get a really nice meal! He was warm, full, and living like a king. Tramp loved it but never was tied down. He would leave while it was still dark & go back to his barrel.

A couple weeks went by and Tramp had met several families. They all gave him their own name but he didn’t care. He was getting away with not being tied down! He was still free, and got so much food. He also got to spend time with people. Deep down he missed it. By the end of the month, Tramp had a different family for 5 nights of the week. No dog was living as good a life as he was. And nothing would stop that!

One day, Tramp went to see the Junkyard Dogs after he ate breakfast at Tony’s. He even brought an extra bone for the dogs there. He mainly wanted to check on Buster. He went in and was greeted by two old dogs, growling at him. “Hey guys, relax. I’m Tramp, Buster’s friend.” It had been a while since he came by, and he figured these guys were new. “Boys! Knock it off!” Buster barked loudly. The dogs ducked down and backed away. Tramp tossed a bone to a group of pups and they wrestled for it.

“Nobody messes with the Tramp. The best stray dog around.” Buster ran up to Tramp. “I don’t know about being the best,” Tramp said. A little puppy ran up to them and asked, “Is it true that you outran the police & dog catchers?!” Tramp & Buster laughed. “Look, they were all on foot and I lost them in the woods by the train tracks. There were only a few of them.” The puppy & other dogs looked at him with awe. Buster put his paw around Tramp’s neck and said “Don’t be modest man, you are great! Anyways, whatcha doin here?” “Just thought I’d check in Buster. Staying outta trouble?” Buster smiled, “Oh of course. I told ya, they can’t catch me!” Tramp laughed and walked Buster away from the group of dogs staring. “That’s good boy, but really. You should watch out. I saw a few signs on my way over. If there’s no collar, your headed straight to the pound!” Buster got defensive, “Tramp, I know what I’m doin. You taught me everything, now go enjoy the day. We’re going dumpster diving, right boys?!” Then all at once, the rest of the dogs howled to the sky. They all started running out the pipe and said by to Tramp. Tramp was once again alone, with his bone.

Even though Buster didn’t listen to him, Tramp knew he’d figure it out. As Tramp headed out of the Junkyard, he decided to head towards the park. As he walked, he found a nice place on the sidewalk to sit and eat more of his bone. There was nobody around so why not? The sunshine of the day felt nice and warm on his fur. This was the life.

Just then, a motorcar from the pound pulled up. Tramp hid inside a broken fence. A man got out from the vehicle and posted a sign. Tramp peered up at it to read it. The sign read something along the lines of “all dogs without a license will be taken by the pound for good.” Tramp got concerned and made sure to stay hidden. Just then, he heard a cough in the back of the car. Tramp crept around and saw two dogs in the back: Peg & Bull, two of his friends. He decided to spring them free….

Little did he know, that the dog catcher would chase him down a road that would change his life forever…

And that was when he met Lady for the first time…..

Thank you for reading the final chapter of Tramp’s story before he met Lady in the Disney movie. Hope you liked it!

Everything Happens For A Reason

“Everything happens for a reason.”

That’s what we’re told, all the time. Nobody knows why exactly.

People die, while others live. People leave and then come back to us.

People go places & some don’t travel very far.

People love or break up. And sometimes people make up.

Either way, they all happened for some reason. None of us know why until way later. It may be painful, but I’m starting to see why some things have been certain ways in my life. All I know is for some of them I needed more time to grow. I needed more perspective even. Other things simply happened based on my decisions & others….

Forrest Gump said it best: ” I don’t know if we each have a destiny, or if we’re all just floatin’ around accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it’s both. Maybe both is happenin’ at the same time.”

Fate. That’s what it is.

You can decide to believe in it or not to. That’s everyone’s choice. So will you choose your fate or let fate lead you?? Make your choice……

… or don’t! It’ll work out somehow.
